Each serves as the fourth installment in a popular action/adventure series. Each would come out more than a decade after the third films and whilst generally well reviewed by critics would become divisive among fans. Each sees the hero (John McClane/Indiana Jones) as an older man in a changing world who takes up a sidekick (Matt Farrell/Mutt Williams) in the form a young rebel (a hacker/a greaser) as he takes on a new breed of villain representing a new kind of threat.
