Each is the third installment in a popular action/adventure film series. Each by fans is largely considered to be the best of the follow-ups in their respective franchises. Both serve as buddy films with the hero (Indiana Jones/John McClane) getting an ally (Henry Jones, Sr./Zeus Carver) who has never been caught up in such circumstances before that he's at first tenuous with before devleoping a strong bond by the end. Both also have villains who harken back to the German antagonists of the original movies. (The Nazis/Hans Gruber's brother Simon)
