Each is animated adventure film centering around a big guy with a rough exterior (Shrek/Manny) who turns out to push people away due to his own emotional baggage. After saving a small chatterbox from some attackers (Donkey/Sid) he begins to be followed around by him. Never getting hint that he wants him to go away. The two winds up going on a quest to transport the child of a leader (Fiona/Roshan) to safety. The main antagonist who has the command of a dangerous troop (Lord Farquaad/Soto) seeks to obtain that person for their own nefarious purposes. In the end the quest is successfully completed, the villains are defeated and the new makeshift family formed by the heroes go off to begin life anew.
